Extremely User-Friendly Way to Collect a Precise Blood Sample Away From the Clinic

The Mitra® Cartridge, based on Volumetric Absorptive Microsampling (VAMS™) technology, accurately and precisely collects 10, 20, or 30 µL of blood (or other biological fluid) in seconds, while eliminating the volumetric hematocrit bias typically associated with the dried blood spotting technique. The Cartridge format facilitates seamless remote sampling as it includes barcodes for managing chain-of-custody as well as a re-sealable bag and desiccant for shipping samples to a central lab.

Collect a quantitative blood sample by simply touching the tip of the microsampler to a drop of blood.  Once the tip turns fully red, it is removed from the blood drop and closed. The closed cartridge is then sealed in the specimen bag and ready to be transported under ambient conditions.  This eliminates the need for plasma processing steps and cold chain / biohazard shipping. Microsamplers contained in the Cartridge can be reformatted into a 96-well footprint and extracted with common solvents on liquid handling robots. Extractions are typically analyzed by LC/MS/MS or ELISA.

This CE-IVD and FDA Class 1 listed device is well suited for at-home health/wellness testing, drug development trials, and remote patient monitoring.

The Mitra Microsampler class I medical device is for direct specimen collection of blood and other biological fluids. It is not specific to any clinical test, and is not for use in diagnostic procedures. Use of the Mitra Microsampler in Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs) requires further processing including the establishment of performance characteristics and successful validation by the laboratory in a manner consistent with CLIA requirements.
