Merck: Supelco HybridSPE®-PLus 96-well plates and cartridges

Website: www.sigmaaldrich.com

Profile: Remove both precipitated proteins and phospholipids from biological samples in just a few simple steps for accurate and reproducible LC-MS analyses.

Rapid biological sample prep method method for more accurate and reproducible data

  • Eliminates ion suppression, column back pressure, and the need for gradient column cleanups by selectively removing phospholipids and proteins via a simple pass through method (no preconditioning required)
  • Prepares biological samples for downstream LC/MS or LC/MS/MS analysis
  • Selective retention mechanism works even with very hydrophobic analytes (such as vitamins), that are lost when using competitive products
  • High throughput 96-well or individual cartridge formats available

HybridSPE-Phospholipid Technology

HybridSPE combines the simplicity of protein precipitation with the selectivity of Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) for the targeted removal of phospholipids and proteins from biological samples.  The technology utilizes a zirconia-coated particle, and exhibits selective affinity towards phospholipids while remaining non-selective towards a range of basic, neutral and acidic compounds. The phospholipid retention mechanism is based on highly selective Lewis acid-base interaction between the proprietary zirconia ions (functionally bonded to the HybridSPE stationary phase) and the phosphate moiety consistent with all phospholipids.
