Malvern Instruments Ltd has acquired NanoSight Ltd, which will continue to operate at existing site and under the existing management team.

Malvern Instruments Ltd (Malvern, UK), an instrument provider for both companies and academia, have expanded their capabilities in nanoparticle characterization by acquiring Nanosight Ltd (Amesbury, UK), who focus on characterization of nanoscale particles.

Managing Director of Malvern Instruments, Paul Walker, said of the acquisition, “I am delighted to be welcoming the NanoSight team to Malvern. NanoSight has grown every year since it was established in 2002. We will be providing the investment and support needed to continue this drive forward and are absolutely committed to developing the NanoSight brand within the Malvern portfolio.”

The NanoSight brand includes their patented technology ‘Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis’ – allowing rapid analysis and characterization of many nanoscale particles, including exosomes – the detection and analysis of which is an expanding field within drug discovery, diseases prognosis and personalized medicine.

NanoSight, who employ approximately 50 people worldwide, will continue to operate at their existing site under the existing management team. Chief Executive Officer of NanoSight, Jeremy Warren, commented on the acquisition, “We have always seen Malvern as the clear leader in our sector, and the exemplar of what we wish to become. The plans we have are ambitious and exciting, and the support and reach of the Malvern organization will allow us to grow more rapidly than we could alone. I am sure that this change will bring opportunity to both our business and our colleagues. Malvern is our natural home.”
