In the Zone: immunogenicity

Viracor BioPharma 4Color LogoPathogen immunity has long been determined by antibody-detection assays, however, in many situations, measuring T-cell immunity to specific pathogens can provide physicians with significantly improved clinical utility. Monitoring T-cell immunity is also critical in the development of new therapies as mechanism to assess immunogenicity. T-cell immunity can be measured with a variety of different techniques, each demanding a certain level of expertise, equipment and labor intensity.

In this feature, we explore the key qualities to look for to ensure success when outsourcing immunogenicity assay development and testing. We also explore the methods for – and challenges involved with – T-cell immunity monitoring and assay development.

podcastsT-cell immunity monitoring and assay development: an interview with Steven Kleiboeker

Ahead of his presentation at the  World Vaccine and Immunotherapy Congress (2–5 December, San Francisco; CA, USA), Dr Steven Kleiboeker (Vice-President of Research and Development at Viracor Eurofins BioPharma Services, Kansas City, MO, USA) discusses the methods for – and challenges involved with – T-cell immunity monitoring and assay development. He also discusses the current research focuses at Viracor Eurofins laboratories, the importance of other viral assays and his hopes for the future directions of T-cell immunity assays.
