About

Changes in our industry continue. New developments rapidly change the world we live and work in; increased or new (scientific or regulatory) expectations, traveling into uncharted scientific territory on existing or new scaffolds, technology developments are only a few examples requiring us to continue to come together and rethink how we can contribute to bringing safe and effective treatment to the patient faster and more cost effective.

Getting out of our comfort zone by exploring, transforming, and innovating should help us to rethink what matters and what we, young scientists, could contribute to our community. The status quo is no option, so Open Up, everything’s waiting for you!

Design of the meeting

At the 10th YSS, we plan to take you on board on this journey.  The 10th YSS Organising Committee (OC) made a strong selection from the many ideas the team generated over summer.  For your schedule, the conference splits in two main events, i.e., the 2nd EBF University and the 10th YSS:

2nd EBF University   (May 15h starting at 13h00)

Building on the experience from 2023, we continue to develop the training opportunities for young scientists with a 2nd EBF University on the afternoon of May 15th. It will be again a busy ½ day, not/minimally impacting travel/lodging costs.

We continue to build on the training material from the 1st EBF University and expand into including round tables discussing interactive case studies on integrating bioanalytical expert support (issue resolving, overall project support…) into preclinical and clinical project teams. The material presented in the 1st EBF university will be re-tuned to fit the needs of this year’s agenda and be made available to the delegates as pre-reading material in spring. Sessions will consist of presentations, Q&A and round tables moderated by (senior) experts in drug R&D from the EBF community or their network.

The 10th YSS    (May 16h  starting at 09h00 and ending around 16h30 on May 17th)

Science Café (SC): theme and dynamics – tbd by the OC in a few weeks. There is no call for abstracts for the SC

Ever since the 4th YSS, a “Science Café” is part of the YSS program. Again this year, we will include a SC in which we typically focus on a specific aspect of (y)our community responsibility. For this year, he organising committee landed on dedicating the Science Café to SUSTAINABILITY, i.e.

    1. Sustainability before analysis (3R’s, ethics, animals, remote sampling etc.)
    2. Sustainability during analysis (method design, single use plastics, automation, archiving etc.)
    3. Sustainability beyond analysis (Company sustainability outside the lab, cycle schemes, electric car charging points etc.)

The discussion on 3Rs will be extended into the call for abstracts

  1. Oral presentations and Poster Sessions (incl. Poster Pitch) à Submit your abstract

We selected following 4 themes for which we invite you to submit an abstract. For each of the themes, we suggest a few sub-themes to help you to focus your submission.

You are invited to submit your abstract for a podium presentation or poster reflecting your research, experiences and interests and fitting the proposed themes in “Oral presentations or 5-min Poster Pitch
