The Bioanalytical Compass – Navigating to our True North
Exactly 500 years ago, on September 8th, 1522, the surviving crew of the (Nao) Victoria reached the harbour of Seville after completing the first successful circumnavigation of the globe, started by Magellan 3 years earlier. Three years into Covid-19, a good moment to remind us of the importance of the global reach of bioanalysis. Continuing our EBF tradition choosing travel themes as branding for our meetings, we want to continue our journey at the 15th EBF Open Symposium and navigate to our True North.
Call for abstracts
We will plan for a meeting that combines a great opportunity to connect – good science and a lot of time for 1-1 connectivity.
As in previous years, it is our ambition to program scientific sessions on small and large molecule applications and strategies, many aspects of immunogenicity, biomarkers assay validation, automation, the e-environment, C>, stakeholder engagement and regulatory updates. We will also continue our discussions on our community responsibility towards a sustainable future of bioanalysis (i.e. 3Rs, green labs, microsampling…).
A final call for abstracts will become available by the end of February. We are currently gathering ideas for sessions within the EBF community. So, in the next few weeks, take this opportunity to make us aware of exciting scientific, technological or regulatory challenges and opportunities you would like us to take into consideration into our call for abstracts and programming in Barcelona. If sufficient traction in the broader community, your suggestion may make it into the agenda. Send your thoughts to [email protected] before 15 February 2022.
COVID-19 Statement:
The 15th Open Symposium will be planned as a face-to-face event in Barcelona, complying with all Covid-19 restrictions applicable in the EU and Spain in November 2022. As for 2021, the EBF may add additional restrictions to secure a safe meeting. Not having a crystal ball, we do not know what this looks like today.
If needed, we will adapt our planning using our experience from 2020/2021. Although not anticipated, this may include moving (partially) into cyberspace. This will change the meeting to a non-sponsored meeting with a reduced registration fee. However, the in-person 15th Symposium in Barcelona will never be re-planned into a HYBRID event (mixing face-to-face presentations with online contributions). Any added/replacing cyber meeting will be a stand-alone event, like in December 2021.
