HILIC HPLC Columns

HILIC chromatography is a variation of normal-phase chromatography with the distinction that one of the major components of the mobile phase is water. The high volatility of the mobile phase makes HILIC LC-MS friendly, and allows for increased MS sensitivity. Many classes of polar compounds can be retained on the Ascentis® Express HILIC column; including, polar neutrals, polar acids, and polar and non-polar basic amines. The HILIC column provides orthogonal selectivity to the Ascentis Express C18, with the elution typically the opposite of that for C18. The non-polar compounds elute early and the highly polar compounds have greater retention and selectivity.

OH5 HPLC Columns

NEW!

Ascentis® Express OH5 is a high-speed, high-performance liquid chromatography column based on Fused-Core® particle technology. The OH5 phase is a highly polar ligand that possesses 5 hydroxyl groups tethered to the silica via novel proprietary linkage phase chemistry. The phase is designed to provide enhanced HILIC partitioning and limited ion exchange retention. This phase exhibits enhanced retention and performance based on the unique phase chemistry coupled with Fused-Core technology.

Ascentis Express OH5 can be used for basic, acidic, or neutral polar compounds with unique selectivity in HILIC mode, which also allows for improved MS sensitivity due to the higher organic content of mobile phases in this mode of chromatography.

Highlights:

  • Exhibits HILIC IEX retention, limited silanol anionic character, and is relatively  insensitive to ionic strength
  • High column stability
  • Column efficiency is equivalent to that observed for columns utilizing sub-2 micron totally porous materials

C8 HPLC Columns

When a C18 doesn′t give the desired separation or your sample contains compounds that are known to be difficult to retain or resolve on a C18, consider changing to an Ascentis® Express C8 column. The Ascentis Express C8 can be the ideal phase for non-polar compounds that are retained too strongly by a traditional C18 column.
