Quantitative surface-assisted laser desorption/ionization – MS approaches for bioanalysis


“SALDI-MS using functionalized nanoparticles holds great potential of becoming a primary technique for protein analysis and for MS imaging. ” MALDI–MS is popular for the analysis of peptides and proteins. However, its quantitation capability is not great due to sweet spots when using organic matrices. In addition, information regarding their complexes cannot be obtained because the analysis is usually conducted under acidic conditions. To overcome these disadvantages, nanomaterials (NMs) have been used to replace organic matrices.
