Phenomenex Inc., a global leader in the research and manufacture of advanced technologies for the separation sciences, announces the addition of over 1,700 new chiral HPLC/SFC applications to its online resource, including more than 400 new SFC (supercritical fluid chromatography) methods. Phenomenex’s extensive chiral application database is unique in the industry, particularly with the addition of the SFC methods, which were developed in collaboration with the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium.

“Few companies have made the necessary investments to develop SFC methods. Yet many users, including most pharmaceutical customers, are now adopting SFC for chiral analysis and purification,” comments Michael Klein, brand manager for Phenomenex.

The applications database is searchable by structure or by compound name. In addition to the applications, Phenomenex offers a chiral column selection guide as well as free chiral screening services. “We have developed the most comprehensive, all-around chiral resource on the market,” explains Klein.

The Phenomenex chiral advantage is built around the company’s polysaccharide-based Lux® media, which is available in five unique chiral stationary phases and has been demonstrated to resolve over 92 percent of enantiomers. Lux is available in particle sizes of 3-micron and 5-micron for packed columns (analytical, semi-preparative, and Axia™-packed preparative) as well as 10-micron and 20-micron bulk media for scale-up.
