Bioanalysis Rising Star Award Judging Panel: Jack Henion


Jack 4“I am excited to be on the judging panel for the Bioanalysis Rising Star award which will seek to identify and recognize new bioanalysis talent in our industry. Our science benefits greatly from the contributions of bright, engaged and talented practitioners so I am anxious to help identify and support the recognition of such individuals.”

Dr Henion is an internationally recognized leader in the field of MS and LC/MS. He is credited with 13 patents and has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals. In addition to his work at Advion, Dr. Henion managed a major research laboratory at Cornell University, where he served as a professor of toxicology for more than 24 years and is now Emeritus Professor of Analytical Toxicology. Under his leadership and vision, Advion has established itself as one of the largest and most respected LC/MS contract laboratories in the world and a leader in chip-based nanoelectrospray mass spectrometry.

Dr Henion earned a bachelor’s degree from Alfred University, a master’s of science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Ph.D. from the State University of New York in Albany and a post – doctoral appointment at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC. The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists has recognized him as a Fellow for his contributions to analytical chemistry. In recognition of his contributions in the field of mass spectrometry, Dr Henion has received doctor honoris causa degrees from the University of Ghent, Belgium, the University of Uppsala, Sweden, and Albany University, Albany, NY. Dr Henion is also a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Mass Spectrometry where he has served on the ASMS Board of Directors for two separate appointments.
