8th Workshop on Recent Issues in Bioanalysis – where regulators and industry convene – March 2014, Los Angeles/Universal City, California

Written by Wei Garofolo, Canadian Forum for Analytical and Bioanalytical Sciences

The Workshop on Recent Issues in Bioanalysis has established itself as a leading international meeting for all those working in bioanalysis, industry and regulators alike. The resultant white papers are always among the “most read” articles in the journal Bioanalysis.

The 2014 edition of the WRIB (LA/Univerisal City, California, USA, March 2014) features a novel and unique flexible agenda, specifically designed to maximize the learning process at any level in each attendee’s fields of expertise. With 3 days of workshop sessions and 6 training courses evenly spread in 5 days, it will give you the flexibility to choose different combinations of courses and workshops based on your field of interest.

As with the previous workshops, the upcoming 8th WRIB will again be a forum where regulators and industry convene to work together in the field of bioanalysis, and continue to focus on the latest challenges that the bioanalytical community is facing. A variety of hot/current topics will be discussed under the following sessions:

  • Global Regulators’ Inputs – Latest Regulatory Updates/Findings on Multiple Harmonized Guidances
  • Small Molecules by LCMS – Bioanalytical Challenges
  • Large Molecules by LBA – Bioanalytical Challenges
  • Hybrid (LC–MS and LBA): Method Development and Regulatory Challenges

Participating regulatory agencies at the 8th WRIB will include the US FDA, Europe EMA (France ANSM, Dutch MEB, UK MHRA, Austria AGES, Germany BfArM), Health Canada, Brazil ANVISA, and Japan MHLW.

Training Courses offered at the 8th WRIB include:

  • Course M-1: “Large molecules advanced bioanalytical method development by LCMS specifically designed for mass spectrometrists”
  • Course M-2: “LCMS small molecule advanced method development, validation, major issues and problem solving”
  • Course T-1: “Challenges, solutions, and new industry standards in LBA large molecules bioanalysis”
  • Course Th-1: “Challenges, solutions and new case studies in LCMS small molecules bioanalysis”
  • Course F-1: “Bioanalysis of large molecule & biomarkers: ligand binding assays (LBA) method development and troubleshooting”
  • Course F-2: “Large molecules bioanalytical method development by LCMS specifically designed for scientists with LBA background – discover the power and potential of LCMS in the bioanalysis of biotherapeutics”

In keeping with the previous editions of this workshop, the 8th WRIB will address practical issues in bioanalysis. It will be highly interactive with thought-provoking question and answer dialogs and panel discussions, and well formulated with an excellent balance of science and regulation.

As always, high quality, better compliance to regulations and scientific excellence are the foundation of this workshop. Come with your questions, and go back with the solutions!
