Drug delivery and R&D leader addresses transformational leadership skills

Written by AAPS

AcheneRx LLC (NY, USA) Founder and CEO Julie DeMartino, PhD, will present the closing plenary at AAPS PharmSci 360, Wednesday 25 October at 4:15 p.m.

Her talk will highlight ‘a-ha moments’ that unlocked insights and illuminated a path to transformational pharma leadership for her. Framed with humour and poignant anecdotes from her own life, DeMartino will inspire pharmaceutical leaders as they face change in their careers and opportunities to step forward into leadership.

Key takeaways cover the power in shared purpose; a growth mindset; feedback as self-awareness; communicating with influence; strategically managing career paths; the importance of getting out of the comfort zone; and relying on core values. Each point will be illustrated with a story from DeMartino’s 3 decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

“We want scientists to leave our meeting thinking about both the incredible research they’ve experienced and how they will advance the science under their leadership when they get back to work,” AAPS 2023 PharmSci 360 Scientific Programming Committee Chair Otilia Koo, PhD (BMS; NJ, USA), said: “The Committee hopes that attendees leave with Julie’s words in mind as they get back into their daily swing. It’s always valuable to look at science – and by extension – your scientific career with renewed focus and energy.”

PharmSci 360 will take place Oct 22-25, in Orlando FL, at the Orange County Convention Center. To learn more and to register, visit https://www.aaps.org/pharmsci360.
