New software automates RNA analysis during research and development

A new open-source software created by scientists at Scripps Research Institute (CA, USA) may increase the speed at which RNA molecules can be characterized and quantified during drug research and development process.  Termed ‘Pytheas’, the novel software specifically analyzes RNA data from mass spectrometric (MS) analysis. Rather than analyzing simple chain of standard nucleotides, the RNA molecules have, in some way, been modified such as mRNA vaccines seen in the Pfizer (NY, USA) and Moderna (MA, USA) COVID-19 vaccines. MS is capable of recognizing RNA molecules and their modifications based on their masses and can produce large amounts of quantitative data....
