High-resolution mass spectrometry: an interview with Ils Pijpers

In this interview, Ils Pijpers (Janssen R&D; Beerse, Belgium) describes the current techniques she employs in the laboratory such as LC–MS and high-resolution MS to investigate small molecules, peptides and biomarkers. Ils also discusses the challenges faced with sample preparation and method validation when using mass spectrometry and HRMS techniques, before predicting what the field of mass spectrometry R&D may look like in 5–10 years’ time.
